Our recent Adventures
We always love to travel and no matter where we find ourselves at the end of a trip, we always seem to find great things to experience. While our favorite destinations typically involve a beach, sun and a lot of relaxation, we also enjoy the destinations closer to home that often involve more activitiy.
Things we Enjoy
Travel Abroad
We love traveling to far away destinations around the world, but never seem to have enough time to explore. Until then, here are a few pictures of vacations over the years.
Adventures at Home
Home life for us is always keeping us active and entertained, whether it’s endurance biking, Vespa cruising or road trips to nearby destinations.
Boating Life
We have a long history of life on Lake Michigan on Take Five, our Hatteras Motoryacht.
Other Things
There is never a shortage of happenings in our life.
Day one in Seoul and we went straight into history at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
We rented traditional hanbok (free entry if you do), and I ended up dressed as King Sejong — the visionary ruler who created Hangul so everyday people could read and write. Somewhere along the palace walk, I accidentally became a minor celebrity. Selfies, smiles, cameras everywhere. 👑
Not a bad way to start Seoul, especially sharing it with my son and his fiancé.

Stepping into the heart of Bangkok’s history 🇹🇭✨
I explored three of the city’s most iconic landmarks—each offering a different window into Thailand’s culture, spirituality, and artistry.
The Grand Palace
Once the official residence of the Kings of Siam, the Grand Palace is a dazzling complex of golden spires, intricate murals, and ceremonial halls. Built in 1782, it remains a powerful symbol of Thai monarchy and craftsmanship. Walking through the grounds feels like moving through living history.
Wat Pho
Home to the massive Reclining Buddha—measuring 150 feet long—Wat Pho is equally famous as the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. The peaceful courtyards, detailed mosaics, and rows of Buddha statues make it a place that invites quiet reflection amid the bustle of the city.
Wat Arun
Rising along the Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun is instantly recognizable by its towering central prang decorated with porcelain and seashells. Best known as the “Temple of Dawn,” it’s especially striking as the light changes—whether glowing softly in the morning or illuminated at sunset.
So many photos, so many details—and still, these places are best experienced by simply standing still for a moment and taking it all in.

Yesterday I visited Hua Lamphong Railway Station, Bangkok’s historic railway heart. Opened in 1916 during the reign of King Rama VI, it was designed with a strong European influence and quickly became the gateway to travel across Thailand.
For generations, soldiers, students, monks, and families passed through this hall—departing for distant provinces or arriving in the capital for the first time. Today it’s quieter, but the architecture, light, and sense of movement still linger. A place where a century of journeys seems to pause rather than disappear.

Kamala and Patong—
where the day moves slowly
and the night doesn’t rush either.

The first stop of a two-week solo adventure: Seattle.
I flew here over the weekend with my son Noah and daughter Michaela and we met my granddaughter and their niece Andromeda for the very first time. It’s hard for me to imagine that I have reached this stage in my life. I’m a very happy person! My daughter, Lillian, is currently finishing her residency in Family Practice here. My kids, like me, love book stores (a dying breed), and we spent our day perusing the titles after a morning at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture. Now I start my journey over the Pacific to visit Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand, and then on to Seoul, South Korea, to visit with my third son and his fiancée!
Happy New Year!
We missed the New Year’s Eve celebration in Manitowoc…. but had a great holiday week with Natalie’s sister Erika and brother-in-law, Matt! They’re from Houston and were not disappointed as we were able to give them a taste of the miserable cold Midwest lifestyle! We witnessed a Milwaukee Admirals win, a sore back (sorry Matt 😬) sledding in subzero weather at Vollrath Park, great pizza at Harry’s Prohibition Bistro, and a bowling score at Lakeshore Lanes that technically qualifies as a perfect 300—if you add all five kid’s scores together.
New Year’s with family is always a win!
The gifts were wrapped.
The tree was glowing.
And Willow chose chaos. 🎄😂
Easily the most excited one in the room — and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
